Emerald T. Dahl

ELIZABETHCITY – Emerald Taylor Dahl, 98, of Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center.
Born in Ahoskie, NC, she was the daughter of the late Linton Yancey Taylor and Rosabelle Phillips Taylor, and was the wife of the late Tyrus Vance Dahl, Sr. and the late Bill Burgwyn. Mrs. Dahl was a graduate of Ahoskie High School and attended Chowan College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Dahl was faithfully cared for by her caregivers, especially Glennie Burnham, and is survived by three step-daughters, Margaret Burgwyn of Woodland, NC, Anna Burgwyn of Woodland, NC and Molly Burgwyn of Wilmington, NC; four sisters, Rebecca Askew of Ahoskie, Sally Beamon of Newport News, VA, Iris Johnson of Chesapeake, VA, and Amy Harp and husband Wayne; a brother, Len Taylor; two granddaughters, Katherine Dahl Evans and husband, Alexander, of Columbia, SC and Elizabeth Dahl of Glendale, CA; and a great-grandson, Malcolm Evans. Along with her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Tyrus Vance Dahl, Jr.; two sisters, Louise Cummings and Joyce Vann; and her beloved aunt, Ethel Taylor.
A funeral service took place Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Twiford Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Old Hollywood Cemetery.
