An apparent hit and run has left a woman dead and local law enforcement officials trying to figure out her identity.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol office in Ahoskie is reporting that an unidentified woman was discovered dead early Sunday morning along a stretch of US 13/17 known as the “Williamston Field” in Bertie County. Her lifeless body was reportedly found near the middle of the four-lane road in the northbound lane, about two miles north of the Roanoke River bridge.
The body is that of an African American female, weighing approximately 300 pounds and 5’-5” to 5’-8” in height. The name “Vickie” is tattooed on her right leg.
Those with information on the woman’s identity or a motorist passing through that area around 3 a.m. Sunday and may have noticed something are urged to contact the NCHP’s Ahoskie office at 252-332-6800 or the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office at 252-794-5330.
