Clyde Sheriff

AULANDER – Clyde Sheriff, age 77 of Aulander, passed away on October 3, 2014 at the Creekside Care & Rehab of Ahoskie, NC.

He was born on May 12, 1937 to the late Clyde and Delsie Rains Sheriff in Cincinnati, OH. Clyde worked as a mechanic and truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, playing music, and was member of the RC wildlife club. A loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he was also a member of Ahoskie Freewill Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Hurtha Ellen Musselwhite Sheriff.

Left to cherish Clyde’s memory are two daughters, Rebecca Twine and her husband Billy of Aulander, NC, and Dawn McDaniel and her husband Herbert Carlyle of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Clyde Sheriff II and his wife Vanessa of Chesapeake, VA, and Timothy Sheriff and his wife Debbie of Moyock, NC; two sisters, Karen Mays and husband Craig of Concord, VA, and Neidra Josephs of Bradenton, FL: a brother, Robert Sheriff of Hebron, KY; along with 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, with the Dr. Jeff Cockrell officiating, with burial to follow at 2:30 pm at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930A Wellness Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.
