CONWAY – Four local men stand charged in connection with break-ins and theft in the Conway area.
Rumeal Daye, 23, and Marques Daye, 26, both of Conway, along with 21-year-old Larry Donnell Reid Jr. and Raheem Basnight, 18, both of Murfreesboro, were arrested and charged by the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office. All face two felony counts each of breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen property.
Additionally, Basnight was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second degree burglary, and felony larceny in a breaking and entering case in Hertford County. Both of the Daye suspects along with Reid were each jailed under a $154,000 secured bond. Basnight was jailed under a $225,000 secured bond.
All were given a January court date.
On Dec. 16, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of Ashley’s Grove Road and Purdue Hatchery Road. The vehicle was also seen in the same area one day earlier and was possibly linked to the break-ins that had been occurring in the area.
NCSO Detective Patrick Jacobs located the suspect vehicle on Horne Road near Pendleton and initiated a traffic stop. One occupant fled from the vehicle, but was apprehended by NCSO Captain M. D. DeLoatch after a short foot chase. All occupants were detained and a search warrant was issued for the vehicle.
After searching the vehicle, the lawmen discovered several items from several different break-ins in the trunk of the vehicle, leading Jacobs to file the charges.
