MURFREESBORO – Two family members were arrested here last week on drug charges.
Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan reported that Michael Scott Lassiter, age 32, and his 41-year-old brother, Donald Thornell Lassiter, were taken into custody at their residence on Buena Vista Road near Murfreesboro.
Vaughan stated that Hertford County Sheriff’s Drug Agents Dexter Hayes and Tom Helms served a search warrant at around 6 p.m. on Feb. 13 and that drugs were found.
M. Lassiter was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Charges against S. Lassiter were felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling, place or vehicle to store a controlled substance, and simple possession of marijuana.
Both men were given a $20,000 bond, which was posted. They made their first appearance earlier this week in Hertford County District Court.
Vaughan thanked his officers for their work as well as praising the assistance of the Murfreesboro Police Department in the case.
“This is another of our efforts to slow down the sell of controlled substances in our county,” Vaughan said. “No matter how large or small of a drug dealer they are, if we are aware of what they are doing, we’re coming after them.”
