HALIFAX – An 81-year-old Bertie County man tragically lost his life near here last week in a single vehicle accident.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol office in Halifax County, Earl White of Governor’s Road, Windsor, died as the result of injuries sustained in the Wednesday, May 6 mishap.

The NCHP report showed that White was operating a vehicle traveling on US 301, approximately 6.4 miles south of Halifax, at which time his vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned several times.

The accident was reported at 5:07 p.m.

White was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids. He died the next day.
