EURE – Iris Harrell Powell, 76, of 201 Powell Lane, Eure, died Friday, May 15, 2015 in her home.

Mrs. Powell was born in Hertford County on June 22, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Joseph Elliott and Sally Colson Harrell. A homemaker, she was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Frank Powell; five sons, Cordie Powell of Eure, Alan Powell and wife Kathy of Cofield, Joseph Powell of Aulander, Stuart Powell and wife Judy of Eure, and John Powell of Hexlena; two sisters, Edith Bess and Rachel Terrell, both of Ahoskie; a brother, Bruce Harrell of Garner; and two grandchildren, Cordie Powell, Jr. and Megan Powell.

A gathering for friends and family will be held Sunday, May 17, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.
