HIGH POINT – Mary Hancock Powell, age 93, of High Point, NC and formerly of Ahoskie, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Westchester Manor Nursing Home in High Point, NC.

Mary was born January 6, 1922 Rockingham County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Robert Moore Hancock and Origanna Wills Hancock. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Henry Powell.

Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Pat Powell and husband, Russell, of Tampa, FL, Bob Powell and wife, Teresa, of Colfax, NC, Jane Sadler and husband, John, of Oxford, NC, Nancy Tellekamp and husband, Michael, of High Point, NC, and Mary Ruffing and husband, Chuck, of El Dorado, AR; her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; her sister, Allene Worley of South Carolina and her daughters Kathy and Deborah; and cousin Earl and wife Diane Hancock of Winston-Salem, NC.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Powell will be held at Conrad Memorial Baptist Church in High Point, NC on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, NC with the Rev. Brian Busch officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
