SCOTTSBURG, VA – Lawrence F. Tooley, Jr., 67, of Scottsburg, VA passed away on January 6, 2016.
He was an independent trucker for 42 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, received a Purple Heart during his service in Vietnam, and was a member of the American Legion. Larry was a member of Rodger’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Delbert Tooley.
He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Christine Tooley, Sr. of Suffolk; his wife of 37 years, Yvonne Barlow Tooley; his children, Lawrence Warren Tooley and wife, Diana of Conway, NC, Jennifer Tooley Curley and husband, Tim of Eure, NC, and Virginia Christine McCurry and husband, Gregg of Wake Forest, NC; sisters Lynda Bushing and husband, Lloyd of Tucson, AZ, and Brenda Tooley of Suffolk, VA; brothers, James Tooley and wife, LeaAnne of Sunbury, NC, and David Tooley of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Anne Tooley of Windsor; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Larry was married previously to Diane Bryant of Eure, NC who also survives.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence of Jennifer Curley.
A funeral service will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. Donald Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Great Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
