LASKER – It’s professional wrestling….with a twist.
RAGE Wrestling Warriors will perform Saturday night, Aug. 27 in the Northeast Academy gym. Doors open at 6 p.m. and bell time is at 7 p.m.
“RAGE Wrestling Warriors is a Christian wrestling promotion dedicated to spreading the word of God and wrestling for the glory of God,” said Charles Jones, founder of the organization.
“We strive to reach people that would not regularly hear the gospel message of Jesus Christ,” Jones added. “We are dedicated to providing quality, family-friendly entertainment that can be enjoyed by all age groups.”
Jones said this is a fundraising event to help the Northeast Academy Eagles football team.
“RAGE Wrestling Warriors provides opportunities for non-profit organizations, civic groups, and other organizations to raise much-needed funds through wrestling events. Additionally, we look to partner with churches (great supplement to evangelism and outreach ministries) in an effort to get the gospel message out to the lost world. We are truly dedicated to providing an action-packed ministry event that can have an eternally lasting impact,” he said.
Jones is a former pro wrester who portrayed “The Great Caesar” from 1999-2003.
RAGE stands for Radically Altered Grappling Experts.
“Our cornerstone Bible verse is Mark 16:15- ‘And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature’,” Jones noted.
At Saturday’s event at Northeast, the Semi-Finals of the RAGE Tag Team Tournament will pit Mayhem Inc. (Gluteus Maximus and Benjamin Banks) vs. The Kings of Savagery (Joe King and Devin Lopez); The Varsity Bruisers vs. Scars and Stripes (Timber and The American Eagle); Asaafi faces off against Timmy Lou Retton; Mike Booth is set to square off against Seymour Snott; and “The Pain Train” Preston Quinn will clash with perennial fan favorite – Dirty Money
The Main Event will feature the winning teams in the tag team tournament semi-finals match-up squaring off to determine the first ever RAGE Tag Team Champions!
The evening will also feature a very special message from former WWE World Champion “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff.
Koloff is a born-again Christian who travels sharing his testimony.
“Koloff will be sharing a very powerful and moving testimony and you will not want to miss what he has to say,” Jones stated.
Jones also said Koloff will share his testimony Sunday morning at Higher Ground Church in Ahoskie.
Tickets for the Northeast Academy event are only $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Part of the proceeds will go to the Northeast Academy football program.
Jones said, “Come out for a great night of pro wrestling action and show your support for Northeast Eagles Football!
“We have some of the best wrestlers in the business,” said Jones. “Wrestling fans will be entertained and enlightened.”
