RALEIGH – Agnes Byrum Perry, 79, went to be with Jesus on February 8, 2017 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 8, 1937 in Ahoskie, NC to A.T. Byrum Sr. and Nettie Byrum.

Agnes was a NC State Employee for 45 years, 37 of those years where spent with the NC General Assembly. She received the Governor’s Long Leaf Pine Award. Agnes enjoyed playing bridge and growing plants and flowers, especially amaryllis. She was one of a kind. She was loved and liked by all who knew her. She had a gentle and likeable personality.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gaston Donald Perry II; son, Walter N. Perry III; brothers, A.T. Jr. and Linwood; and sister, Sheryl.

The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 99 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Entombment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
