MURFREESBORO, NC – Edna Oliver Lyles, “Eddi”, age 70, died June 21, 2017 at her home surrounded by family.
Born April 1, 1947 to the late Newman Oliver and Mildred Jones Oliver of High Point, NC, she served as a registered nurse at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital for over 30 years, and was a member of St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church in Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. Lyles had two loving sisters, Mrs. Barbara Strupe of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Lisa Carter of Fort Worth, Texas.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Russell H. Lyles II; two devoted daughters, Meredyth Lyles Corey and husband Chris, of Woodland, NC, and Elizabeth Lyles Shores and husband Woody, of Aulander, NC; and three precious grandchildren, Christopher Aidan Corey, Sophia Elizabeth and Brandon Whitley Shores. She is also survived by her loving nephews, Kyle Newman Hunter, Ryan Gregory Hunter, Joseph Michael Milinovich II; niece, Cassandra Leigh Carter; and mother-in-law, Nellie Taylor Lyles of Franklin, VA.
Mrs. Eddi Lyles was loved by many, and enjoyed horseback riding, painting, playing her cello, dulcimer, and bass in the community and local churches.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, North Carolina.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Ahoskie, North Carolina, with Father Bill Long, officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, North Carolina.
