AHOSKIE, NC – Kathy Martin Leonard, age 64, passed away on July 6, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Leonard was born in Portsmouth, VA, on July 29, 1952, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rachel Harrell Martin. Kathy worked for the maintenance department at the NC Department of Transportation.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Martin; a sister, JoAnn Vann; and a step daughter, Veronica Bunch.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Floyd “Butch” Leonard; two daughters, Melissa Leonard, and Cindy Lassiter, both of Ahoskie, NC; two sisters, Jean Dilday, and Gwendolyn Ayers, both of Ahoskie, NC; two step daughters, Deanne Dilday and husband, Joe of Conway, NC, and Donna Place and husband, Neil of Creswell, NC; five grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Elmer Vann officiating.
