ROXOBEL, NC – Nina Gayle Smith Williford, age 81, passed away on August 29, 2017 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Williford was born on November 1, 1935 to Tolbert and Jewel Smith in Seminole, OK. Nina worked as a secretary for Harrington Manufacturing for many years prior to going to Perdue of Lewiston before retiring. She loved all animals and was dedicated to many humane societies. Nina enjoyed shopping, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and reading books. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Nina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Wanda Kwarta, and a brother, Donald “Buddy” Smith.

Nina is survived by her husband, Clinton Arthur Williford, Jr.; two daughters, Carolyn Jewel Ellis of Roxobel, NC, and Paulette Gayle Hoggard of Greenville, NC; one son, Clinton Arthur Williford, III and wife Cathy of Aulander, NC; one grandson, Clinton Arthur Williford, IV of Aulander, NC; one great-granddaughter, Gracie Len Williford of Aulander, NC; one brother, Mike Smith of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Roxobel Kelford Cemetery, Roxobel, NC, with Dr. Dave Rimel, officiating.
