Margie D. Hollowell

COLERAIN, NC – Margie Dunlow Hollowell, age 92, passed away on September 29, 2017 at the Accordius Health at Creekside Care of Ahoskie, NC, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Hollowell was born in Bertie County on April 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Johnnie and Sally White Dunlow. Margie was a longtime faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years. In honor of her service to the church, a Sunday School Class was named after her. Margie enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting, but first and foremost in her life was being a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Clay Hollowell, and her brother, MacDonald Dunlow.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Keith Hollowell and wife, Eleanor, and Dana Hollowell and wife Martha, all of Colerain, NC; a granddaughter, Kristen Hollowell, and a grandson, Austin Hollowell, both of Colerain, NC; a brother, Manly Dunlow of Elizabeth City, NC; two step grandsons, Paul Upchurch of Colerain, NC and Jon Upchurch of Greenville, NC; a step granddaughter, Angie Terry of Kitty Hawk, NC; a step great grandson, Bobby Terry; and a step great granddaughter, Madisyn Terry; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life service was held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, with Rev. Ray Faircloth, Sr. and Rev. Ray Faircloth Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.
