AHOSKIE – Dr. David Friedman, board-certified general surgeon, has joined Dr.  David Lingle to provide services for patients at Vidant General Surgery – Ahoskie.

Dr. Friedman is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.  He completed surgical residency at Marshall University Schools of Medicine and affiliated hospitals in Huntington, West Virginia  His internship in general surgery was served at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Friedman, in recent years, has served as a general surgeon at hospitals in the western part of the United States. His long tenure at Deaconness-Waltham Hospital in Massachusetts included being the president of the medical staff and a board member for many years.  Earlier in his career he served as Major, U.S. Air Force Medical Corps Chief of Surgery, at Vendenberg Air Force Base in California.   

A Fellow, American College of Surgeons, he also is a member of SAGES – Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.  He has published articles on cancer and is the recipient of numerous distinguished service awards in the medical and military fields.

Dr. Friedman is skilled in colonoscopy, upper GI, breast surgery, and other general surgery procedures. He has relocated to the Roanoke-Chowan area and is available for appointments at Vidant General Surgery located on Academy Street in Ahoskie.
