WINDSOR – Bertie County Sheriff John Holley says his office has issued a missing person statement on an Aulander man who was last seen on Aug. 15.
Family and friends say 25-year-old Taj Maleek Daverious Overton was last seen on that date around 5 p.m. and a missing person’s alert was issued by the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday (Aug. 21).
Overton, a black male, was last reported seen leaving a family members residence in Aulander and was then spotted getting into a white work van – make and model unknown – driven by a white male. The vehicle is described as having a workman’s ladder attached to its rooftop.
Overton has previously resided in Greensboro and he also has family in Raleigh as well as in Bertie County. During his time in Greensboro, family members say he visited an unknown location in Virginia.
Overton is believed to not have any known mental health or substance abuse issues.
Overton’s family members say they are extremely concerned about his well-being because it is very unusual of him to not have any communication with his family, particularly over long extended periods of time.
Sheriff Holley is requesting anyone who may have any information on Overton’s whereabouts to please contact the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, and/or by calling 252-794-5330.
