WAXHAW, NC – Dr. Elbert Glenn Hicks Jr., also known as “EJ” peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Elbert Jr. was surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Prayer Room Church in Rich Square, NC.     A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 28th at 5 p.m. in Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.

Elbert Jr. was born on September 8, 1959 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina to Elbert Sr. and Alberta Hicks. Elbert Jr. served as Military Police in the United States Army from 1978-1981. He received his Doctorate in Theology from Ambassador Christian College in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Elbert Jr. met and married his wife Ruth Carolyn Hicks in Germany. They have been married for 25 years.

Elbert Jr. is survived by his two daughters, Alexandria Montgomery, married to Jerry Montgomery, and Madleen Stokes along with their God-daughter Diana Majaro.

“Vote Jesus Christ” and “Jesus is the Answer” are the missions of EJ and Ruth created to care for the poor. They own Hicks Realty, Hicks Total Transformations and Cosmetechnology Beauty College. They have four grandchildren: D’Mitri, Sarina, Nicklas, married to Destney, and Jerrolyn.

Elbert Jr. was preceded in death by his father Elbert Sr., his mother, Alberta Hicks, and his sisters, Barbra Jean Hicks and Doris Ann Hicks.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Carolyn Hicks, two children, four grandchildren, and four sisters, Mary Deans married to Larry Deans, Darlene Bradford married to Robert Bradford, Bertha Ryland Hicks, and Shirley Hicks.
