Event cancellations

The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald has been informed of the following events that have been postponed due to the projected heavy rain and wind from Hurricane Florence:
** The Ahoskie Fall Fling, slated for Saturday, Sept. 15, is postponed until a later date.
** Hunting and Fishing Day, set for Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Roanoke-Chowan Wildlife Club at Hare’s Mill, is rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
** The third annual Winton Homecoming, sponsored by the Winton Historical Association and originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, has been changed to Saturday, October 6 at 11:00 pm at the Winton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Winton.
The speaker is Sue Woodward, a native of Winton. Woodward will present ‘Working for Peanuts”, the Northeastern NC peanut story in a nutshell. The program is free and open to the public.
Lunch reservation are needed by Friday, September 28, for the for the 12 noon luncheon on Oct. 6. Catering is by Abrams. The menu will be Fried Chicken and BBQ, String beans, Potatoes, Cole Slaw, Hush Puppies, Dessert, and Drink. Other closings
The Windsor-Bertie Chamber of Commerce office is closing effective Tuesday, Sept. 11 and re-open after Hurricane Florence has made its way through the local area. The Chamber anticipates re-opening on Monday, Sept. 17 depending on the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
