Chowan County Regional Fair, Sept. 25-29

EDENTON – The Chowan County Regional Fair will celebrate its 72nd season here Sept. 25-29 with a full schedule of entertainment and activities at the American Legion Fairgrounds, located at 1317 West Queen Street in Edenton.

This family-fun event will feature Dreamland Amusements midway rides for all ages, racing pigs, Firefighter Training Show, the Magic of Lance Gifford & Company, the Mitchell Marionettes, DJ Cowboy, live music, livestock and small animal exhibits, Heritage Farm displays, a train display, community exhibits, educational booths, contests, carnival games and favorite fair food.

Fair highlights include the Little Miss Pageant (6:30 p.m. Tuesday), Hog Showmanship Show (6 p.m. Wednesday), Southern Gospel Program (6-9 p.m. Thursday), Mixin’ Mike Productions (7-10 p.m. Friday), Cornhole Tournament (2 p.m. Saturday) and Miss Chowan County Regional Fair Pageant (6 p.m. Saturday).

Fair admission is $8 and free for children under 36 inches tall.

Unlimited ride wristbands (for riders 36 inches and taller) are $20. Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus one free ride. Rides take two or more tickets each.

Elementary and middle school students are admitted free with a paying adult on Tuesday, and K-12 students are admitted for half price on Wednesday and Thursday. Seniors ages 60 and older are admitted free on Thursday, with special activities and prizes from 4 to 6 p.m.

Saturday is Military Appreciation Day, with half-price gate admission and unlimited ride wristbands for all active military personnel and their families with Military ID.

Advance savings on gate passes, ride passes and family four packs (admission and rides) are available on the fair website before Sept. 24.

Fair hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday at 1317 W. Queen Street.
