COLERAIN, NC – Ronnie G. “Boonie” Jernigan, age 75, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 from complications of a stroke, at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Jernigan was born in Bertie County on March 15, 1943, a son of the late Lennie Otis and Annie Ruth Mizelle Jernigan.

Besides his parents, “Boonie” was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Jernigan; two brothers, Bobby Glenn Jernigan, and McWayne Jernigan; and a nephew, Randy Lane Jernigan.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of forty years, Margaret “Rosie” Bolton Jernigan; a brother, Alton “Monk” Jernigan and wife, Janice of Colerain, NC; a sister-in-law, Anna Jernigan of Windsor, NC; three nieces, Paula J. White, Amy J. Hoggard, and Bobbie Lynn White; and a nephew Lyndon Alton Jernigan. Also surviving are six great nephews; two great great nephews; one great great niece; and a special family of in-laws.

The family will receive friends at the home at any time.

A celebration of life service was held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, with Rev. Preston Jernigan officiating.  Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.
