In Ahoskie, Tye Saxby passed for 145 yards and one touchdown and Erion Holley rushed for 90 yards and another score to lead Hertford County to a 24-12 win over Bunn High School in the opening round of the NCHSAA Class 2AA State playoffs.

Adding to the win was Jalen Davis, who returned the game’s opening kick-off 81 yards for a touchdown.

The fifth-seeded Bears, who improved to 6-5 overall, will travel to fourth-seeded West Craven next Friday in second round action. West Craven defeated Richlands, 36-8, in its playoff opener.
