AHOSKIE –Bertie’s Lady Falcons and the varsity boys of Washington High School were crowned as the champions of the 2018 Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald Holiday Classic here Saturday night at the Hertford County High School gym.

In the girl’s game, Bertie rode the strength of Akyia King’s double-double (24 points and 12 rebounds) to defeat Washington County, 59-38.

Washington County turned the tables vs. Bertie in the boy’s championship contest as the Panthers placed four players in double figures, led by 18 points from Quymel Chesson, to defeat the Falcons, 73-54.
