MURFREESBORO, NC – Walter Cype “W.C.” Bryant, Jr., age 84, passed away on June 12, 2019 at Vidant Roanoke- Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Bryant was born in Hertford County, NC on September 13, 1934, a son of the late Walter Cype and Morris Woodard Bryant. W.C. worked as a carpenter for Hill Enterprises for over 20 years and later as Maintenance Supervisor for Chowan University for 20 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Phyllis Underwood Bryant; two sons, Walter Michael Bryant of Ahoskie, NC, and Gordon Paul Bryant and wife, Dottie of Farmville, NC; a granddaughter, Kathleen Bryant Sharp and husband, David of Mobile, AL; and a grandson, Stephen Paul Bryant of Raleigh, NC; two great grandsons, Royce Bryant Sharp and Grady Dolan Sharp of Mobile, AL; his sister, Kathryn Bryant White and husband, Bitsy of Advance, NC; and his brother, Billy Woodard Bryant of Warner Robins, GA.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 17, 2019, from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Meherrin Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, prior to services. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. John Porter officiating. A private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
