Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said that Jeffrey Ray Harrison is now in custody.

Holley told the R-C News-Herald that Harrison – wanted for vehicle theft in Martin County and assault on a Windsor Police Officer among other charges – was located at around 5:20 p.m. today (Monday) in the Buzzard’s Cross area of Bertie County.

“We located him not very far from where he went into the woods on Saturday,” Holley stated.

When asked if Harrison surrendered peacefully, Holley remarked, “He didn’t have too much fight in him after being on the run for over 48 hours.”

The Sheriff added that Bertie EMS was summoned to check on Harrison’s medical condition. The Martin County man will then be booked into the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail.
