Tuesday morning collision injures two on NC 308

LEWISTON – One man has been airlifted to the regional trauma center, while another was transported to a local hospital following a head-on collision that occurred on NC 308 near here Tuesday morning.
According to NC Highway Patrol Trooper S. Atgmann, as of Tuesday afternoon an investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
Atgmann said that at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, a Pontiac Bonneville, operated by 23-year-old Caleb Langdale of 543 Republican Road in Windsor, was headed east on 308 near the intersection of Jack Branch Road and Francis Mill Road, when there was a head-on collision with a westbound vehicle, a 2005 International commercial truck, operated by William Howard, 31, of 1230 Maple Street in Washington, N. C.
Bertie County EMS responded to the accident scene and after local treatment of his injuries, Langdale was airlifted by helicopter to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. Howard, also treated at the scene, was transferred to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, also with no update on his condition.
