Mary Ann Lassiter

BURLINGTON, NC – Mary Ann Reynolds Lassiter, age 85, formerly of Woodland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at The Oaks of Alamance in Burlington, NC.
Mrs. Lassiter was born on May 15, 1934 to Oma W. Reynolds and Lida B. Reynolds in Wilmer, Alabama. Mary Ann worked as a nurse’s aid in Mobile, Alabama prior to marriage. She married the love of her life, John Lassiter, Jr. who was in the US Air Force and they enjoyed traveling and seeing many different places before returning to his home in Woodland, NC. She worked at Mylecraft and Severn Peanut Company for a period of time. She loved children and spent several years working in a daycare at the Outer Banks and kept children in her home some as well.
Mary Ann was a Godly woman and was an active member at Woodland Baptist Church where she taught children in Sunday school and served in other capacities until moving to Burlington, NC. She loved to collect angels and listen to gospel music, especially the Gaither Vocal Band among others. Mary Ann loved the Outer Banks, enjoyed spending time looking for seashells, and cherished time spent with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lassiter, Jr.; and her brother, Oma W. Reynolds.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Frances Lassiter Truitt and husband Dan of Burlington, NC; two granddaughters, Iva Mitchell and husband Sam, and Jessica Yarbrough and husband Brandon; five great grandchildren, and two very special young women that she considered her own grandchildren, Ashleigh and Sarah Beth Phillips; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Oaks of Alamance and the Hospice of Alamance for their dedicated care for Mary Ann during her illness. Also, the family wishes to thank Kesha Crisp from the bottom of their hearts for the love and devoted care that she showed to Mary Ann, as you were considered her family as well.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Woodland Baptist Church, Woodland, NC, with the Rev. Dr. J Brabban officiating and burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 11:00 am until 11:45 am in the fellowship hall.
