AHOSKIE – A small portion of a major thoroughfare near here will be closed for approximately 12 hours on Thursday.

According to information provided by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Short Cut Road (a section of NC 11 north of where the new overpass is being constructed at the old “11-and-11” intersection) will be shutdown between the hours of 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1 and 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2.

This closure will allow for the placement of the bridge girders over NC 11.

Motorists using NC 11 between Ahoskie and Murfreesboro will not be impacted by the closure.

The detour route will be signed and message boards will also be utilized to alert the traveling public. Traffic will be rerouted using US 13 and NC 561.
