RICH SQUARE – Lura Maudine Holloway Wheeler, age 96, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Rich Square Health Care Center of Rich Square, NC.

Mrs. Wheeler was born on October 21, 1922 to Ettus George and Berdie Lou Nelson Holloway in Randolph County, AL. “Granny” as she was affectionately known was an excellent seamstress. She loved to cook and always made recipes her own. Granny loved gardening and making her porcelain dolls. Her most important and favorite thing was time spent reading her bible and meditating with the Lord. Another important part of her life was sharing with others the fruits of her labor that she has made with her hands. She was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Johnny Henry, Sr., second husband, Noah Kendall Wheeler; son, Ronald “Ronny” Ettus Henry; and sisters, Thelma Smith, and Erma Holloway.

Lura is survived by her son, James Johnnie Henry Jr. and wife Sandra of Newnan, GA; two daughters, Linda Ann Henry Lassiter Coffield and husband Roger of Conway, NC, and Sylvia Henry Estes and husband Larry W. of Hogansville, GA; sister, Hallie Faye Bridgers Waldbart and husband Bob of Fletcher, NC; six granddaughters, Nicole Cross of Newnan, GA, Brittany Garrett of Memphis, TN, Tammie Jo Lassiter Osborne and husband Rene’ of Franklin, TN, Leigh Ann Coffield Martin and husband Jason of Woodland, NC, Jennifer Estes Lambert and Allison Estes Davis, both of Hogansville, GA; four grandsons, Jonathan Clinton Henry of Dallas, GA, Jason Parrish Henry and wife Bridgette of Newnan, GA, Robert “Bobby” Glenn Lassiter and wife Mamie Brown of Morristown, TN, and Joshua Stephen Garrett and wife Caitlin of McDonough, GA; ten great-granddaughters, Morgan Garner, Ashley Garner, Kinsey Henry, Jessica Atkins and husband Scott, Jordan Henry, Jordan Christine Osborne, Anna Jo Osborne, Sara Maigen Lambert, Macie Olivia Lambert, Abigail Victoria McCollough, Dallas Tillery, Remi Gammel, and Charlotte Garrett; and nine great-grandsons, Jonathan Henry, Chad Lassiter and wife Jacy, Zach Lassiter and wife Ashton, Seth Lassiter, Caleb Osborne, Trenton Martin, Caden Martin, Grayson Daniel Lambert, Connor Davis, and Bo Tillery; one great great grandson, Davie Baber, and one great great granddaughter, Hazel Henry, along with a host of extended family.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, with son-in-law Larry W. Estes and grandson Bobby Lassiter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m.
