MILLENNIUM, NC – Mark Wayne Terry, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home.

Mark was born on March 5, 1935 to Godfrey and Virginia Elizabeth Burden Terry in Hertford County, NC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Mark worked in construction as long as his health permitted. He thoroughly loved working. Mark was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked extremely hard in the Millennium community to make things better for everyone. He was a member of The Millennium Water Association for 50 years, retired from The Millennium Volunteer Fire Department where he served as fire chief and is still an honorary member, was a member of The Millennium Civic Organization where he always was available to do anything that needed to be done. Mark loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Along with his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Terry; brothers, Albert and G.J. Terry; and sister, Phyllis Ray.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Ann; son, Steven Terry and friend, Denise Britton of Aulander, NC; brother, George Terry and wife Judy of Salemburg, NC; two half-brothers, Tim Terry of Virginia, and John Terry of Nags Head, NC; two half-sisters, Kim Dunnigan of Asheville, NC, and Kathy Barnes of Southern Shores, NC; three grandsons, Martin Terry of Nags Head, NC, Nathan Clark and fiancé, Ashlee Flythe of Conway, NC, and Aaron Clark and wife Bailey of Murfreesboro, NC; step-daughter, Teresa Piland and friend Allen Simons of Aulander, NC; step-son, Anthony Lassiter and wife Denise of Eure, NC; along with a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 26, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham, officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
