CONWAY – Donald Ray Martin, Sr., age 81, passed away on October 14, 2019 at Halifax Regional Medical Center of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Mr. Martin was born in Northampton County on December 23, 1937, a son of the late Gordon Paul and Emily Vann Martin. Donald retired as a chemical operator supervisor at Resinall Corporation in 2000 after 22 years of service. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his yard and bird watching, and every night, without fail, he loved to watch Wheel of Fortune. He was a longtime member of Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margie Hobbs Martin, and his half-brother, Robert Martin.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Donald Ray Martin Jr., and wife, Cathy of Severn, NC; two daughters, Ellen Martin Williams and husband, Barry of Rich Square, NC, and Marie Martin and friend, Jeff Minton of Aulander, NC; five grandsons, Michael Christopher Vinson and wife, Lyndsay of Remington, VA, Jason Williams and wife, Courtney of Fuquay Varina, NC, Taylor Ray Martin of Severn, NC, Ryan Williams of West Palm Beach, FL, and Hunter Martin of Conway, NC; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Vinson of Conway, NC; three great-grandsons, Brantley Martin, Carter Vinson, and Nolan Williams; a great-granddaughter, Marileigh Vinson; two sisters, Ethel Askew of Portsmouth, VA, and Daphne Little and husband, Raymond of Harrellsville, NC; and two brothers, Glenn Martin and wife, Edna of Milwaukee, NC, and Lowell Martin and wife, Jane of Southport, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Milwaukee Cemetery, Milwaukee, NC, with Rev. David Ross officiating.
