EURE, NC – William Thomas Brown, 92, of Eure, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 in Accordius Health & Rehabilitation, Gatesville.
Mr. Brown was born in Suffolk, VA on September 7, 1927, and was the son of the late Charlie Eason and Lavenia Brown. A mechanic for many years, he later owned and operated his own trucking business for over 30 years.
A member of Eure Baptist Church, he was a founding member of the Gates County Rescue Squad, and was a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he always gave of himself and never refused to help anyone. Another of his proudest accomplishments was when he went back to school when he was in his 50’s and received his GED.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Taylor Brown; a daughter, Janet Leigh Beachboard and her husband, Danny; a daughter-in-law, Harriet Brown; and by sisters, Sally Marie Brown, Helen Pritchard, and Mary Lee Dettman.
Surviving are his son, Charles Ray Brown of West Columbia, SC; a brother, Charles Frank Brown of Gates; five grandchildren, Sherrie Ann Horton, Samantha Beachboard, Amanda Couture, William Ray Beachboard, and Mollyanna Nelson; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Baptist Church, and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Friends may join the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. A private burial will be in Eure Christian Church Cemetery.
