EDENTON, NC – Matthew Ryan “Matt” Taylor, 32, of 311 Munsee Trail, Edenton, died Friday, November 8, 2019, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia.

Matt was born in Franklin, Virginia on December 30, 1986. The son of Vicki Emily Taylor of Eure, and the late Phillip Keith Taylor, he was raised in Gates County and was lifelong member of Cool Spring Baptist Church. A pipefitter, he was employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norene and Millard Taylor.

With his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ciera Felton Taylor, and their seven year old daughter, Lillian Alayna Taylor; his brother, Brandon M. Taylor (Kimberly) of Eure; his maternal grandparents, Lillian and Cecil Taylor of Eure; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Joe McKnight and the Rev. Roger Kiker. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service, and all other times at his mother’s home, 22 Corner High Road, Eure.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a college fund being established for his daughter. Those donations should be made payable to the SECU, Gatesville Branch, Attn: Erin Riddick, 6 Commerce Drive, Gatesville, NC 27938. On the memo line of the check you should write, Matthew Taylor.
