WINDSOR – The NC Cooperative Extension Service, Bertie Center and NC Forest Service, are offering a Woodland Management Seminar at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Cashie Convention Center, located at 118 County Farm Road in Windsor.
Reforestation methods, cost and considerations will be addressed by Dr. Mark Megalos and Colby Lambert from NC State Extension Forestry.
Landowner liability and responsibilities will be discussed by NC State Extension Economist Andrew Branan, Esq.
In addition, NC Forest Service and Natural Resources Conservation Service-USDA representatives will bring updates from their respective departments.
Rounding out the evening, forest industry representatives will be on hand before and after the meeting to discuss their services and answer questions attendees may have. This will be a great opportunity to discuss cost share opportunities, thinning, timber markets, control burns, etc.
There is no cost for the meeting but a preregistration is requested to help in preparing for the evening. Please call {252) 794-5317 or email scpowell@ncsu.edu to register by Jan. 16.
Over 320,000 acres or 75 percent of the land in Bertie County is considered forest or woodland. Approximately 72 percent of this is recorded as privately owned.
