AHOSKIE – Two local men were recently arrested by the Ahoskie Police Department in separate cases.
On Jan. 30, Nyjawaun Maurkece Ezell, 23, of Bertie Park Lane, Ahoskie, was arrested by APD Officer Dawson Dunlow for assault on a female.
Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh said that Ezell was accused of striking a female employee at the Ahoskie Super WalMart. Fitzhugh added that the employee was reportedly the girlfriend of Ezell.
One day later (Feb. 1), APD Officer Tyler Burden arrested an Aulander man after he attempted to flee from police.
Christopher Marshall Newsome, 25, of 1014 NC 305 Hwy., was charged with speeding, and failure to stop for a blue light and siren.
After Newsome’s vehicle finally came to a stop, Fitzhugh said Officer Burden discovered drug paraphernalia, which added a criminal misdemeanor charge to Newsome’s pair of traffic citations.
