Baseball tryouts set for June 1 and June 2

AHOSKIE – A new baseball league has formed and includes a team from the Roanoke-Chowan area.
The RC Twin Rivers Redbirds will participate in the Independent Summer League. The team is open to anyone between the ages of 15-19 (cannot turn 20 in this calendar year) who resides in the four counties of the Roanoke-Chowan area (Bertie, Gates, Hertford and Northampton). They will play a 26-game regular season schedule that begins later this month.
The Redbirds – coached by David Ellis, Jonathan Hobbs and Bryan Merritt – will hold open tryouts at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2 at the Ahoskie Creek Recreational Complex.
