WINTON – Allen Wall, 94, a longtime resident of Winton and Cofield, died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in Waterbrooke of Elizabeth City.

Mr. Wall was born in Hertford County on August 20, 1925, and was the son of the late Lee Wood Wall and Sybil Ella Burgess Wall. A retired foreman with the Ford Assembly Plant in Norfolk, VA, he was a member and deacon of Holly Springs Baptist Church, a member for more than 60 years of the Winton Masonic Lodge #723, and a former member of the Harrellsville chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the USS Volans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Smith Wall; sisters, Kathleen Lassiter, Stella Burgess, Elizabeth Drake, and Girlen Pierce; brothers, Jay, Stanley, and Charles Wall; the mother of his children, Mary Estelle Wall; and a step-son, E.J. Burbage.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. James Allen Wall (Dianne) of Bryan, TX and John Mark Wall (Kimberly) of Elizabeth City; a sister, Olethia Taylor of Eure; a grandson, Wayne Allen Wall; and a step-daughter, Evelyn Hoggard of Cofield.

A private graveside service will be held, where he will be buried next to his parents in the Wall Family Cemetery in Winton.
