COURTLAND, VA – Our beloved Southampton County Public School teacher and administrator for 36 years, Deacon Roger. C. Myrick, Sr. has died at the age of 89. Deacon Myrick transitioned peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, VA.

Deacon Myrick was a lifelong educator serving in various capacities of leadership as a principal, assistant principal, and teacher in the Southampton County Public School System. He was married to the late Amphia Mae Rouson Myrick for 64 years, leaving behind two sons, a granddaughter, a host of relatives, friends, and former students.

A wake service for Deacon Myrick will be at the Engram Funeral Home Chapel from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 5, 2021.

The funeral service for Deacon Myrick will also be at the Engram Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Visitation and viewing times at the Engram Funeral Home are from 12 noon to 8 pm on Friday, March 5, 2021 and 12 noon to 1 pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

The Interment with military honours will be on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Mill Neck Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral.
