JACKSON – Sgt. Ashley Leitner with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, who serves as a Detective Criminal Investigator, has earned a prestigious honor by the N.C. Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission.
In December, Sgt. Leitner was awarded the Intermediate Deputy Law Enforcement Certificate, which is a cumulative of law enforcement years of experience and achievements in education and professional law enforcement training.
The Intermediate Deputy Law Enforcement Certificate has placed Sgt. Leitner among the elite of law enforcement officers within the State of North Carolina, according to Northampton Sheriff’s Captain Patrick Jacobs.
In addition, Sgt. Leitner recently completed certification and training in November of last year with the National Association of Computer Voice Stress Analysts. She is also certified as a member of the National Institution of Truth Verification Federal Services.
“These certifications serve as a great asset to Northampton Sheriff’s Office and any surrounding agencies with criminal investigations,” stated Capt. Jacobs.
This week (April 1), Sgt. Leitner also completed 101 hours of course work, earning a certificate for General Instructor Training.
This certification training was completed at Halifax Community College.
“I am looking forward to teaching upcoming BLET cadets and fellow law enforcement officers when the opportunity arises,” said Sgt. Leitner.
Leitner began her law enforcement career with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 2, 2015 and was promoted to Sergeant Detective in criminal investigations in March of 2018.
Northampton Sheriff Jack Smith stated that he is extremely proud of Sgt. Leitner on these great achievements and awards she has received.
“These achievements are a great honor for every officer to achieve,” the Sheriff said. “I am extremely thankful for the many years of dedication and service that Sgt. Ashley Letiner has given to law enforcement and serving the great citizens of Northampton County.
