A GoFundMe page is asking the public to help assist the family of the late Josh Wolverton with his funeral expenses.

Wolverton, age 20 of Ahoskie, was shot and killed on Sunday afternoon at a residence in town. The Ahoskie Police Department is investigating.

The details of the GoFundMe page, created on Monday by Stephanie Johnson, are as follows:

“Josh was taken from his mother and family at such a young age and so unexpectedly. This has put a huge financial burden on them for funeral expenses. Every mother needs to know their child is taken care of, even in their final resting place.

“I ask that anyone willing, please donate to this family for these expenses so that Josh can Rest In Peace and his mother can know she did everything possible to see this happen. This is a tragic loss and let’s all offer what we can as well as prayers and uplifting for Shannon, Kayla, Freddie, and the rest of his family.

“Josh was a protector, a sincere, and good friend, brother and son! Let’s please help lift some burden from this family.”
