Post 102 sweeps season opening doubleheader

CARY – Ahoskie Post 102 sweeps a Junior American Legion doubleheader at Cary Saturday afternoon in the season opener.

In the first game, Ahoskie beat the Cary Cardinals, 12-3.

The Cardinals lead 3-0 after two innings.

Ahoskie scores one run in the top of the third on a Dalton Vann RBI single. The Cardinals lead 3-1 after three innings.

Ahoskie scores eight runs in top of the fourth. Cody Hurdle has a three run triple and they add five RBI singles off the bats of Messiah White, Will Revelle, Walt Williams, Owen Stallings, and Creek Johnson. Ahoskie leads 9-3 after four innings.

Post 102 scores two runs in the top of the fifth on a Williams two run double. Ahoskie leads 11-3 after five innings.

Post 102 scores its final run in the top of sixth on a Blayden Miller RBI single for the 12-3 win.

Cody Hurdle is the winning pitcher for Post 102.

Ahoskie wins the second game, beating the Cary Bulls, 9-8.

Post 102 scores three runs in the top of the first on a Williams two run double. Williams scores on a wild pitch. Ahoskie leads 3-0 after one inning.

Ahoskie adds four runs in the top of the third. Dalton Vann has a RBI single, Jacob Nichols has a two run single, and Vann scores on a wild pitch. Ahoskie leads 7-0 after three innings.

Ahoskie scores its final two runs in the top of the fourth on a Williams RBI double and a Creek Johnson RBI single. Ahoskie takes a 9-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth

The Bulls score six runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth as Post 102 hangs on for the 9-8 win.
