BACA to host basketball tournament

WINDSOR – The Bertie Alumni Community Association (BACA) will host a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. basketball tournament and food plate sale to continue raising funds for their nonprofit scholarship and community programs.

The tournament and food plate sale will take place on Saturday, Jan. 15 beginning at 10 a.m. at the old Bertie High School gym. The plate sale starts at 12 noon.

The basketball tournament general admission is a $7 donation to the BACA scholarship fund.

The teams that are participating are out of Virginia, Rocky Mount, Hertford County and local in Bertie County. If any other teams like to register they can contact BACA Chairperson Charles (CJ) Johnson at 252-301-8457. The cost for participating teams is $160 per team. Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams and MVP player of the tournament.

BACA food plate sale will be at the concession. The menu will consist of chicken, fish, ribs, hot dogs, fries and sodas, water, Gatorade and lemonade.

Any interested basketball team sponsors, educational supporters, businesses, Bertie Alumni or individuals who would like to donate to BACA tournament or their nonprofit scholarship program can do so by sending a certified checks and/or money orders to BACA Scholarship, P.O.
