WOODLAND – A Pendleton man was arrested near here Thursday after he failed to elude law enforcement officers.
Jeffery Quinton White Jr., age 30, first attempted to elude arrest by speeding away in a vehicle, failing to stop for a blue light and siren.
The incident began when Northampton Sheriff’s Captain
C.A. Parker and Sgt. R. Horton were following up on drug complaints in the area of NC Highway 35 in the Woodland area. They noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop for traffic violations.
Once the occupant of the vehicle failed to stop, a brief vehicle chase pursued, leading into Arrowhead Mobile Home Park, located north of Woodland on NC 35. There, White stopped his vehicle and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later.
White was charged with one count of flee/elude arrest, driving while license revoked, and possession of marijuana less than 1/2 ounce.
He was also served with four outstanding orders for arrest out of Northampton County and Halifax County for failure to appear in court on drug possession and traffic violations. White was given a $2,000 secured bond on orders for arrest out of Northampton County and a $750 secured bond on Halifax County orders for arrest. There was an additional $1,000 secured bond on traffic and drug charges from Thursday’s chase.
White is scheduled to appear in court on the Northampton County charges on March 15.
