Lady Falcons advance to state championship game

GREENVILLE – Bertie’s Lady Falcons placed three players in double figures to collect a 61-58 win over Wilson Prep here Saturday in the NCHSAA’s Class 1A Eastern Regional Finals held at the J.H. Rose High School gym.
The win advances Bertie (23-4 overall) to the state championship game vs. Bishop McGuinness High School (25-6). Bishop McGuinness defeated Mountain Heritage High School, 48-37, on Saturday in the Class 1A Western Regional Finals.
The site and starting time of the state championship game will be announced by the NCHSAA on Monday.
Jessica Stokes scored 19 points to lead the way for Bertie vs. previously undefeated Wilson Prep. Rakiyah Peele and Yazmonasia Boone added 15 points each.
Madison Pounds and Jamaria Freeman each tallied 19 points to pace Wilson Prep, who finished their season at 24-1 overall.
