Gaston man murdered

GASTON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation after a Gaston man was shot to death on Monday afternoon.
In a press release sent this morning (Tuesday), NCSO Captain Patrick Jacobs said 30-year-old Ricky Lamar Douglas Jr. died as the result of suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Jacobs stated that Northampton Sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday to a shooting that occurred outside of Gaston on Warner Bridge Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male subject, later identified as Douglas, laying in the front yard of a residence.
This case is being investigated as a homicide and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at 252-534-2611 or Crime Stoppers at 252-534-1110.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
Jacobs stated that no further information will be released at this time.
