AHOSKIE – Two young adults and one juvenile stand charged in connection to a shooting here Wednesday afternoon that sent two individuals to the hospital.

Ahoskie Police Chief Jimmy Asbell said that Tony Moore and Nigel Jamon Marks, both age 19 of Ahoskie, were arrested and charged after a vehicle chase ended near Murfreesboro. There was a 17-year-old juvenile charged in connection to this case as well.

Moore and Marks were each charged with two counts of attempted murder, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle inflicting serious injury, two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, discharging a weapon into an occupied residence, four counts of injury to personal property, injury to real property, simple possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Moore was additionally charged with felony flee to elude arrest. He was jailed under a $1 million secured bond.

Marks’s bond was set at $600,000.

Asbell said his officers responded at approximately 5:40 pm to the 900 block of East First Street regarding gunshots.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that two people had been shot and the suspects fled the scene in a black Chrysler car,” Asbell said.

He added that Ahoskie officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and a chase ensued, leading law enforcement to the intersection of NC 11 and US 158 near Murfreesboro where the pursuit ended and three individuals were taken into custody.

Asbell said the two victims were taken to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie where one was treated and released and the other was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.

“I want to thank the public for providing information that assisted law enforcement in the apprehension of the suspects involved in this case,” Asbell said. “It takes cooperation among citizens, witnesses to crimes, and law enforcement working together to make our communities and neighborhoods safe from violence.
