AHOSKIE – Ahoskie American Legion Post 102 has announced they will field three baseball teams for the upcoming 2022 season.
“We are really excited about the upcoming season,” said David Ellis who will serve as the General Manager of all three teams. “This year we had our largest turnout ever and due to the huge numbers, we decided to form a second junior team.”
Ellis said 49 young men will be playing baseball for Post 102 this season.
“We are pulling from 16 different high schools throughout Northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia, which means we are truly and all-star team this year,” Ellis added. “Maybe the best thing about it is that out of the 49 boys suiting up, only four will age out this year, so the future of Ahoskie Post 102 Legion Baseball looks fantastic.”
Wayne Meeks remains as the Post 102 Athletic Director. Bryan Merritt will take over as Senior Head Coach, Jonathan Hobbs will be Junior Team A Head Coach while Kevin Noon will coach Junior Team B.
The 2022 season schedule will see over 21 home dates and 25 Legion games played at Hertford County High School.
That home schedule begins on Wednesday, June 1 when the Senior team hosts Kinston at 7 pm. The Junior teams will face each other at 7 pm on Friday, June 3.
