DESTIN, FL – Announcing the marriage of Vershenia Ballance Moody and Jasper Leonard Johnson on May 15, 2022, at the white sandy beaches of Destin, Florida.

The bride is the daughter of William and Beulah Ballance. The late Jasper and Mary Elizabeth Johnson are the parents of the groom.

Daniel P. Kuhn officiated the wedding as pool blue, coral themed decorations graced the room. The couple decided to recite their own vows during the ceremony. After strong words of love and adornment, it was time to kiss the bride!

The reception at Surfside resort followed. It was full of surprises. Vershenia had an original song and slideshow created as a gift to her groom. The fun didn’t stop there; the bride performed a dance routine with her bridesmaids and wowed the crowd.

Vershenia and Jasper continued their stay in Destin after the wedding but will honeymoon in Europe later.

Vershenia is currently a District Court Judge for District 6. Her husband, Jasper, is a retired Master Sergeant from the US Air Force and works as a military contractor on Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville.

The couple met back in 2018 after numerous chats and texts. Succeeding two rainchecks, they finally met at Lou Reda’s in Rocky Mount. They didn’t see each other coming, but they are grateful for the years of beautiful peace, joy, and love.

In the bride’s vows to the groom, she described the couple’s strength using the scripture: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
