Chowan men’s lacrosse named statistical champion in shot percentage

MURFREESBORO – The 2022 season for the Chowan University men’s lacrosse program had many achievements throughout the season, but none bigger than being named NCAA Division II Statistical Champion.
The Hawks found the back of the net at a greater clip during the 2022 season better than anyone, scoring on 39.1 percent of their shot attempts to lead all of Division II.
Chowan finished in the top-10 in several categories as a team and individually.
The Hawks ranked fourth in DII in caused turnovers per game (12.36), sixth in assists per game (9.29), and eighth in ground balls per game (38.36).
Individually, Jaxon Martin finished second in the country in goals per game (4.21) and points per game (5.61). Martin also finished third in man-up goals (12) and fourth in shot percentage (53.2%).
Eric George finished fifth in goals per game (3.86) and shot percentage (52.4%), while finishing eighth in points per game (5.14).
Erik Dozzi rounded out the rankings by finishing 10th in assists per game (2.43).
