Ridgecroft School used a sweep in the doubles matches to defeat Lawrence Academy, 6-3, during a Tarheel Independent Conference tennis match on Sept. 26.
In doubles action, the top-seeded team of Belle Turner and Kaye Chamblee defeated Addie Phelps and Lucy Spruill, 8-4.
In the second-seeded doubles match, Sydney Jones paired with Molly Brown to post an 8-3 win over Abbie Rose and Megan Corey.
The Ridgecroft duo of Avery Byrum and Karley Rose edged out Adrianna Geramita and Olivia Tynch, 8-6, in the third-seeded doubles match.
In singles action, Turner squeaked past Phelps, 8-6, in a match featuring the top seeded performers.
At #2, Chamblee also edged out a win, defeating Spruill, 8-6.
Brown, seeded fourth, collected Ridgecroft’s other win in singles play as she defeated Geramita, 8-0.
Lawrence collected its three wins in singles play as follows:
#3 – A. Rose defeated Jones, 8-4;
#5 – Corey defeated Byrum, 8-1; and
#6 – Tynch defeated K. Rose, 8-4.
With the team victory, Ridgecroft ran its overall record to 6-3 while remaining undefeated (6-0) in conference action.
